Dear Family,
Well, another General Conference has come and gone which means Family Newsletter. Speaking of General Conference….that was an awesome conference. It’s nice to know that where ever we are we are listening to the same speakers.
The Stewarts are fine and fabulous here in Mo. Val. Life does go on and we are trying to keep up with life like everybody else. Now that the In-n-Outs are in Mesa and Utah that means we won’t see any of you who used to come just to get In-n-Out Burgers. Well, I hate to say this but the Southern Cal. burgers are still the best. I don’t care what any of you say, but it’s true. So come on over and have a burger with us.
Kent keeps busy with the yard work between his mom’s house and our house. It’s a never ending project which we will never get caught up on. He is still the stake music chairman, which means that he is busy a few times a year for stake conferences and a few stake priesthood meetings. He did enjoy a quick trip to Lake Mead in September. His dad and cousins meet there once a year to have a family weekend reunion. Collin went with him, but I needed to stay home due to work. We are ski boat owners now, and we have a nice boat called “Chariot”. It is a very nice boat and Kent loved taking it out on the lake.
Collin is a full-time driver now. It is very nice to not have to be his taxi driver to and from school and other activities. He finally completed his Eagle Project and passed his Board of Review. We are just waiting on the paper work to go through and then we will be planning the court of honor next year sometime. He was glad to get that over and done with. He rebuilt a foot bridge in a nature walk at the nearby Lake Perris. He completed the job in two days. The group started Friday night, camped at the lake, and finished it the next day. It was a great project and it looked nice, thanks to Kent and the leaders who supported the project.
I am keeping busy with my 1st grade class and being the Stake Young Women President. I have very dependable counselors and we work well together. I enjoyed going to Girl’s Camp. My next big assignment is speaking in Stake Conference in a few weeks, and then it starts all over again by repeating the stake activities: Girl’s Camp, Youth Conference, Stake Youth Committee Meetings, Stake Youth Firesides, and a few other stake activities.
Kyle is enjoying mission life. He says that it has ups and downs but it’s the ups that keep him going. Here is a letter from Elder Stewart written Oct. 27, 2008:
Dear Family,
How’s it going? Well I hope all is well back at home. Here it is wonderful. I am on an Indian Reservation just south of Gallop, New Mexico. This reservation was settled by church members sent by Brigham Young, so most of the people are church members. This week has been a wonderful week, but it’s going to be tough because we are out of miles that we can drive. I drive a truck here on the reservation. The nearest village is like 5 miles away and the other one is like 20 miles away, a little too far to ride our bikes because we are not in shape to ride bikes. My companion has already knocked on most of the doors in the village that is 5 miles away. So we’ll see what happens.
Well we do have one baptism coming up on Nov. 8. His name is Brad. He is a way cool person and he has turned his life around and is ready to be baptized. We have another one for a girl, age 11, named Makinzee. Her mother is a member but not active. The Native Americans are wonderful people. They are like everyone else but they have a wonderful history and it’s cool to see how they understand that the Book of Mormon talks about their ancestors, so that’s awesome.
Well we are going to be having a musical fireside here on the 9th of Nov. I will be just playing the hymn, I Believe in Christ. I am not sure that I really have the gift of music because I can’t sing in tune to save my life….we are also going to be singing Come Thou Font in a small group. I guess I’ll be singing melody with someone else since I can’t keep in tune. Well, it’s been a great week full of fun stuff on a mission like teaching and trying to do better. Well keep strong and do your best. I know that this gospel is true and it is indeed the best thing and if you take the time to read the Book of Mormon you will know for yourself that the Book of Mormon is true and that you will know God and find the answers to life….where we came from? Why are we here? and where are we going?
Family is so important and I’m glad that we can be an eternally family.
Love Elder Stewart
We miss seeing you all on a regular basis, and hopefully we can see you sometime next year. Come to Mo Val and have the “REAL” burgers and when you’re here stop by and spend some time with us.
Love,
Kent, Sheryl, Elder Stewart, and Collin
