Hello family-
I cannot believe that another six months have come and gone...and boy have they flown by. Things here at the Cowan household rarely stop moving and we keep pretty busy. School has started and we are still trying to figure out how everything goes together....when to do homework with who...who needs to be picked up when...the stuff that many of you have been doing for years.
Nate keeps busy at work. He recently moved into a larger office and he is loving it. He has helped this office to grow quite a bit in the past three years and he is finally seeing the fruits of his labor. Nate has had some health issues recently. The stomach pains that we have thought for years to be an ulcer have proved otherwise. The doctors think that it may be coming from somewhere in his intestines. He recently had a CT scan that showed nothing. He is now scheduled for an appointment with a specialist and will probably undergo a colonoscopy soon. Keep him in your prayers that we can find out what is causing this intense pain.
I am still just trying to figure out how to be a mommy to four kids. They keep me on my toes and I am learning more every day how to efficiently manage the affairs of our household. I will be giving flu shots again this year. The clinics started recently and I will work every now and then as I can. I have been on another craft kick lately, (they seem to go in spurts), and I have been keeping even busier trying to figure out how to crochet some beanies for my kids before it gets too cold here. I have been having fun with it and learning new things.
Brinley turned 7 over the summer and just started 2nd grade. She loves school and begs every day to play with another friend from her class. She has developed quite an attitude lately and I am amazed at how soon it all started. Aren't they supposed to wait until at least teen-age years to start sassing?? Brinley is an excellent reader and a great speller. She is also a great help with the baby. Brin loves to hold and take care of Kamri. She has even tried her hand at changing diapers and does a great job.
Addie is 5 years old and just started Kindergarten. She loves her teacher and also loves to be at school. She knows all her letters and their sounds and she is really excited that she is starting to read now. Addie has been a great help around the house lately and she will sometimes pass up playing outside to help me with something. The other afternoon I found her emptying the garbages and cleaning Porter's room without being asked. I hope it isn't just a phase! She is such a funny little girl and she loves to be loved. If you give her a hug and a kiss she will be your best friend for life.
Port. Oh what can I say about Porter. He is such a cute little guy, but boy is he NAUGHTY!! Whoever said that it was the "terrible twos" didn't have a three-year-old. He is such a boy. He is always running here and there and getting into things and he knows how to push his sister's buttons. Oh boy. We decided to send him to preschool a year early and he loves it. It would have been too boring for him with the girls gone to school. Although, he does love it when they are gone. It is like "when the cats are away, the mice will play". As soon an the girls are gone he immediately is into their things and is rummaging through their special stuff. Stinker!! Porter has been really into golf recently and loves it. Nate made him a small set of clubs out of a used set and they go to the driving range every now and then. He is pretty good at it and knows which clubs are which. He is such a character.
Now, for our new little addition. Kamri Alizabeth Cowan was born May 25. She is such a sweet little thing and we all love her to bits. The poor thing hardly gets a moments peace as someone is always up in her face and grabbing at her. She is just going to have to get used to it right...until she learns to fight back and bite! Kamri was a little grouchy to start off with until we found out she had some allergies to dairy. Now I just steer clear of dairy products in my diet and she is a whole different baby. She is now five months old and the time has truly flown. We love her to death.
Well, we hope this letter finds you all safe and happy. Have a happy holiday season. We love you.
